Relocation of the Academy of Letters
After ten years of intense and passionate activity in Saint-Quay-Portrieux, the Académie des Lettres is turning an important page in its history. Driven by a team of talented and committed authors, this collective adventure has seen the birth of numerous projects: a dynamic writing workshop, two collective works — a detective novel and a collection of poems and short stories — as well as exhibitions, literary fairs, public readings, literary lunches, and literary trips that have left a lasting mark on the local cultural life.
Today, it is towards Binic that the next chapter of this beautiful story is directed. The decision to relocate is part of a context of reorganization and economic constraints, with an operating deficit of around €6,000, without subsidies, but also reflects a desire to give a new impetus to the Académie in a more open city.
Certain adaptation difficulties related to the reception framework, the organizational conditions during the Covid period, as well as institutional misunderstandings and perceived obstacles in the evolution of the project, have contributed to the necessity of rethinking the future of the structure. Far from any break, this is primarily a transition, a natural movement towards a new horizon.
Binic, with its already very active literary life and recognized cultural dynamism, now appears as a suitable port of call for this renewal.
A sabbatical year will allow for laying the foundations of this new stage, rethinking the formats, and calmly preparing for the resumption of activities.
The Académie des Lettres warmly thanks all those who have accompanied its journey in Saint-Quay-Portrieux, and looks forward to writing the next chapter of this adventure together soon.
